Synthetically Producing Hemoglobin
Insufficient blood supply is one of the most overlooked problems it causes so many deaths all over the world. That's why in this projects, I decided to take a look into how we can synthetically produce hemoglobin, the most important protein in blood, using yeast models so that hospitals no longer face blood shortages.
how it works
There are 3 Basic Steps
The first step is finding a good host. The model yeast saccharomyces cerevisiae is ideal. The second step is adding the genetic code of heme and globin to the model yeast. Lastly, the heme and globin synthesize and stick together to form hemoglobin.
